Lubbock homeowners could see an increase in their water and sewer rates.
Wednesday, the Lubbock Rates Review Committee proposed raising water rates at least 5% and increasing sewer rates 22%. Supporters say the increase is needed.
"Our sewer system is in horrible condition and our reserves are way, way down. We're putting band-aids on sewer lines and we need serious infrastructure upgrades," said Jim Gilbreath, City councilman for District 6.
City council members asked the committee for more information before they consider the proposal at a future meeting.
