Crop Looks Promising in West Texas

This year's West Texas cotton crop could be a record harvest.

Economists with the Texas Cooperative Extension think the crop may surpass the 5.6 million bales harvested in 1981. One economist thinks the crops in West Texas may help match the highest yield ever in Texas.

That record was in 1949, when six million bales were harvested. Harvesting begins as early as September and runs through December.
