Jerry Ybarra, Jr., 38 Jerry Ybarra, Jr., 38
LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

The driver of a stolen car collided with another vehicle trying to evade police Sunday afternoon.

Police attempted to intercept 38-year-old Jerry Ybarra, Jr. at 2:29 p.m. at the 2200 block of University Ave. but he led them on a high-speed chase instead.

Authorities pursued Ybarra westbound on the 2400 block of 22nd Pl. when his car hit another vehicle carrying 3 passengers. The collision caused the vehicle to roll over and hit a light pole in the median. Ybarra then fled the scene on foot.

The passengers of the car have been identified as Joseph Green, III, 28, Tiffany Devrouville, 26 and Travis Gearlds, 21.

Devrouville was riding in the front passenger seat and was partially ejected from the vehicle while Gearlds had to be removed from the backseat. Green, III, did not sustain any serious injuries.

Ybarra was later apprehended and arrested.

Police suspect Ybarra may have been under the influence of alcohol or drugs at the time of the accident.
