Police are warning about a possible scam that could make it's way to Lubbock.
LPD received an alert from the Fort Worth area that criminals are giving away free keyrings with tracking chips at gas stations and parking lots. They say the keyring will allow criminals to track and follow the person carrying it.
Police say the defrauders will present themselves as sales promoters and can be very convincing.
Sergeant Jonathan Stewart of the Lubbock Police Department says if you are approached by someone trying to give you one of these keyrings to be cautious and use discretion. His advice is stick to the old adage: if something sounds to good to be true, it probably is.
