Dairy Booming Business on South Plains

The South Plains is fast becoming a hot spot for dairies.

One of the newest held its grand opening Friday. The Dairy Fountain is located near Edmonson, 10 miles northwest of Plainview. The dairy has a herd of about 3,600 cows, 3,000 of which they milk.

The Dairy Fountain employs 38 full-time workers and milks 400 to 500 cows an hour with each animal producing about 67 pounds of milk per day.
