This Thursday, the Lubbock City Council will continue its discussion on the proposal to ban synthetic marijuana, which has for some time been widely available in smoke shops. The issue was brought to light by a Lubbock mother who says her son started using synthetic marijuana in an effort to stop using the real thing. Then they discovered its own set of alarming side effects. Our guest today is on the Board on Health in Lubbock, but Dr. Ted Reid is also a professor in the Department of Ophthalmology at Texas Tech, and he is also a biochemist there.
