This week Lubbock City Council members struck a major blow against an epidemic plaguing most of the country.
They voted to ban all synthetic drugs sold in the city. Drugs like Spice and K2 have sent tens of thousands of people, and many in Lubbock, to the ER with major side effects and on going health problems.
This needed to happen and I congratulate the council members who took a stand.
I'll be the last guy to tell you that we need more government managing our lives. But this is different.
This is a public safety issue. And public safety is the most important service we get for our tax dollars.
I'm not sure how they will enforce this new law, and there is a hint of intrusiveness here. But now it's on the books and the good far outweighs the bad.
