Our country doc in Brownfield is from another country: Lebanon. But Dr. Paul Shebib calls Brownfield his home now.
You think Dr. Shebib likes practicing in a rural community because it's more relaxed, maybe a little slower paced. Not for him. Out here in Brownfield, this popular doc puts in more than 100 hours a week, and he really likes it here!
"I always get offers to go work somewhere else, but I don't think I'll get what I'm getting over here, and I love what I'm doing over here. We usually have a busy and packed office, do another round in the afternoon, and in the evening it depends on whose on call covering the ER, which could mean staying up most of the night and having very little sleep if any, and that's how the week goes by and before you know it, it's Sunday. Patients come in, and they always bring us goods and goodies and home cooking, and it sure brightens our day, and just seeing them outside the office and seeing them as persons opposed to patients has also been a wonderful experience," says Dr. Shebib.
