Texas Tech begins recycling competition

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

Texas Tech kicked off their first annual recycling competition Sunday, its first participation in Recycle Mania, a competition and benchmarking tool for college and university recycling programs to promote waste reduction activities to their campus communities.

Sean Duggan, the managing director for University Student Housing says Texas Tech is becoming a leader in the community with regards to sustainability.

They expect 500 people to come out to their kick off Sunday at the Student Union building.

The competition goes for eight weeks, during which participating schools will be ranked according to their recycling rate.
