KILGORE, TX (KLTV) -
Kilgore Police confirm that the so-called 'Murphy USA' bandit has been apprehended.
A witness said that the suspect had pulled up at the Kilgore Walmart Lawn and Garden Center, loaded his Chevrolet Blazer with ten bags of peat moss, and then left without paying.
Officer Carolyn Wink located the suspect, now identified as 43-year-old Russell Ray Clark of Longview, pulled him over and arrested him for theft.
Further investigation revealed that Mr. Clark was responsible for three thefts at Murphy USA and several thefts at Brookshires.
Gregg County Sheriff Investigators have also identified Clark as the person responsible for committing two burglaries of buildings in their jurisdiction.
Clark is currently charged with Felony Theft due to previous convictions and two traffic charges. Additional criminal charges are pending.
