As I watched coverage of American sniper Chris Kyle's funeral procession Tuesday, I couldn't help but be touched.
You may know that his service in the War on Terror made him the deadliest sniper in U.S. Military history. Iraqi insurgents dubbed Chris Kyle the "Devil of Ramadi" and offered an ever-increasing bounty on his head. And did you know during his service he was shot twice and involved in six I.E.D. attacks? He truly walked the walk.
West Texans should be particularly proud because Kyle was a native of Odessa, Texas. Chris Kyle will not soon be forgotten and we can all continue to honor his legacy.
Every soldier who has ever been put in harm's way for this great country also deserves our gratitude. Like Chris Kyle, by enlisting to serve, they said they were willing to pay the ultimate price to preserve America's freedom.
So in honor of Chris Kyle and his amazing accomplishments, take every chance you get to thank a veteran or soldier for their service. I'm certain that's how Chris would want it.
