Lubbock welcomes home Mac Davis with his own day and with his own street. City council members met late Friday night and voted to re-name a portion of 6th St. From now on, 6th Street from University to Texas Avenue will be called Mac Davis Lane.
"I've said a million times its Buddy Holly this and Buddy Holly that every time you come into town. I've always felt like the red-headed step child, but it's nice to have a street named after you, especially the location, it's right where I grew up," says Mac Davis, singer.
Mac Davis returned to Lubbock this weekend to play in a celebrity golf tournament as a benefit for the Texas Tech golf team. He's best known for his hit "Lubbock, In My Rearview Mirror."
