Dense fog causes flight cancellations

Posted: Updated:

Lubbock travelers wishing to fly out of town tonight and tomorrow may need to rearrange some of their plans.

We caught up with a group who is heading to Jamaica for vacation. They were scheduled on an American Airlines flight to Dallas departing at 7:30 a.m. The group had to catch a connecting flight out of Dallas shortly after. But because of the dense fog, the flight to Dallas was canceled and now the group has to rent a car last-minute to make it in time for their next flight.

Edwin Badder is one of these vacationers and he says the cancellation was really inconvenient.

"There's six of us, and we're having to drive 6 hours so we're leaving here at midnight to get there in time to make our connecting flight at 9:45."

Badder says luckily, his friend, who is a frequent flyer with American Airlines received a text message letting him know the flight was canceled, so the group was able to make other arrangements before it was too late.

So far, this has been the only canceled departing flight. Two arrivals were canceled this evening, Southwest flight 48 and American Airlines flight 2809. Both flights were scheduled to depart from Dallas.
