From TxDOT:
Texas
Department of Transportation Lubbock District maintenance crews will continue
work tonight to remove snow from roadways across the South Plains as long as
temperatures allow. Lubbock area crews will continue to monitor bridges and
overpasses overnight.
I-27
remains closed from the northern Lubbock city limits to Amarillo. While crews
have made progress in removing snow from the main lanes in Lubbock County, I-27
north of Abernathy remains snow-packed and impassable in large areas. Many of
the frontage roads from Lubbock to Amarillo also remain snow-packed.
Motorists
are strongly discouraging from traveling in the Lubbock and Amarillo (Texas
Panhandle) and Childress areas overnight due to icy conditions and snow packed
roads.
Several
roadways in the Amarillo and Childress areas remain closed to traffic including
I-40, from New Mexico to Oklahoma and US 287 from Amarillo to Childress. For
additional road closure information log onto drivetexas.org
Snow
removal operations will resume tomorrow once temperatures rise above freezing.
