I-27 opened to traffic; motorists still urged to use caution

After nearly 24 hours of being closed, the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) has reopened I-27 from Lubbock to Amarillo. Motorist's are now able to travel north and southbound on I-27, however TxDot is discouraging it. Stretches of I-27 are still covered in snow and ice. Therefore, please drive slowly and carefully. Also, give yourself plenty of time to get to your destination.

TxDOT maintenance crews will continue to work on roads all over the South Plains throughout the day, therefore, please keep an eye out for crews and give them room to work.

For Texas road conditions log onto drivetexas.org or call our 24-hour toll-free hotline at 800-452-9292.
