Buddy Holly Center to feature local artists, Crickets exhibit

On the first Friday of March, the Buddy Holly Center invites the community to participate in Lubbock's First Friday Art Trail, a night that provides an opportunity to enjoy fine art, entertainment and refreshments at local art galleries. Every month the galleries involved in First Friday Art Trail work to promote fine art and outreach within the community of Lubbock. On March 1, 2013 the Center will be open free of charge from 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. for patrons to view its exhibits. There will be FREE refreshments and a cash bar.

The artwork of three local artists will be featured in the Fine Art Gallery. John Chinn, Ashton Thornhill and Wendell Warman-Adams will exhibit P3: Photography, Painting, Pottery a diverse body of works that include ceramics, prints and photographs. Displayed in the Texas Musicians Hall of Fame Gallery is the exhibition, Walk of Fame II – The Crickets. This rotating exhibition highlights individuals inducted into the West Texas Walk of Fame, now located across the street from the Buddy Holly Center. The second installment features photographs, artifacts, and memorabilia of The Crickets: Jerry Allison, Joe B. Mauldin, Niki Sullivan and Sonny Curtis.
