Help for pelvic prolapse

Posted: Updated:

Pelvic prolapse is a very common condition. It happens when the pelvic organs including the uterus, rectum and the bladder can drop from their normal position in the body.

Symptoms include: heaviness or pressure in the lower abdomen, chronic constipation, incontinence, even pain with intercourse.  Surgeons have traditionally pulled everything back up with sort of a net...or mesh, but now, here's what's new. Some doctors are using the patient's own tissues and muscles to repair the prolapsed, without introducing anything foreign.

So, there are new options in getting that fixed. If those symptoms sound familiar, talk to your doctor or a urologist about what might be the next step for you.
