Teens can actually improve their health, by giving back to the community!
A Canadian study found adolescents who volunteered for just one hour a week in an elementary school had lower cholesterol and inflammation levels and lower b-m-i's than teens who did not volunteer.
Surveyers found those teens who did volunteer work also had greater empathy, generosity and self esteem, all of which they said contributed to improvements in cardiovascular health.
So, how is that for helping your kids develop a good heart, literally. Encourage them to do volunteer work in the community.
