Lubbock Sheriff's Office Lubbock Sheriff's Office

A Lubbock man charged with murder took the stand in his own defense Thursday. Armando Sandoval is accused of murdering his common-law wife Christina Moreno last year.

The state rested its case on Thursday morning and when the defense took over, attorneys called Sandoval to the stand. Sandoval claims he stabbed Moreno in self-defense after she stabbed him once in the leg with a kitchen knife. Moreno was stabbed 11 times.

If convicted, Sandoval faces up to life in prison.
