Police responded to a gas leak explosion Wednesday evening on the Texas Tech campus. Around 9 p.m., an explosion occurred inside a lab at the College of Agricultural Science & Natural Resources Building (CASNR), located at 1502 Detroit Ave.
Tech spokesperson Chris Cook says a lab student noticed a faint smell of gas in a lab, and when he flipped the light switch off, there was an explosion behind a refrigerator. Cook says the explosion blew a 2-foot wide hole through the wall. He said there were no injuries and crews were able to contain the area shortly after.
