One seriously injured in semi, Fed Ex truck collision

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

Police have reported an accident at the intersection of Slaton Hwy. and East 66th St. that left one woman in serious condition.

Just before 8:00 a.m. on Thursday, police say 57-year-old Cynthia Taylor was driving west on Slaton Hwy. in a semi-truck. Jamie Cain, 30, a Fed Ex driver, was traveling west on Slaton Hwy., attempting to turn left onto E. 66th.

According to police, Cain failed to yield the right-of-way while turning and Taylor's semi-truck plowed into the passenger side Cain's vehicle. Cain was reportedly not wearing a seatbelt, and the impact partially threw her out of the right window.

She was taken to UMC with serious but non life-threatening injuries. Taylor sustained minor injuries but was not taken to the hospital.
