A lab in College Station will soon know if the bees that killed two dogs are killer bees. Late Thursday afternoon some painters working on the side of a house disturbed a bee hive. The bees chased the men down the block and then attacked dogs that were in the backyard of the house.
On Friday, Gafford Pest Control has sent a vile of bees for analysis. "Well, they're either a very aggressive Honey Bee or Black German Bee or Africanized Bees. You can't tell until they have been tested," says Gafford Pest Control Owner Tim Gafford.
Gafford says Africanized bees have been detected 60 miles south of Lubbock. He will know Monday from the lab about the type of bees that went on the attack in Lubbock.
