It was an amazing Saturday for Lubbock area TAPPS basketball as four schools won state championships in basketball.
It was an especially rewarding day for Lubbock Christian High School as both the boys and girls teams capped off 3A state championships in the same season for the first time since 1990. The girls beat Austin Brentwood, 56-38 behind Ashlee De la Cruz's 39 points. The boys meanwhile, won in dramatic fashion over Woodlands Christian, 53-52 on a buzzer-beating layup by Evan McCullough.
The Trinity Christian Lady Lions won the 4A state title game in impressive fashion, dominating Fort Bend, 75-34.
Finally, Plainview Christian boys brought home its first ever TAPPS state championship, beating Orange Community, 65-44.
