Whitharral Lady Panthers win Conference 1A Division II State Championship

AUSTIN, TX (KCBD) -

It took three straight trips to the state championship tournament, but the Lady Panthers finally made 2013 a year to remember by beating Saltillo 45-36 for their first-ever state championship.

Senior Taylor Moore continued her dominance with 13 points and 7 boards. The story of Saturday's matchup were senior guards Mia Ochoa and Maeci Scott. They both dropped in 12 points and hit crucial three pointers.

The Lady Panthers made the trip to Austin in 2011 and 2012, but fell just short of winning a state championship.

The Lady Panthers finish the season at 38-4 and will raise the schools first girls basketball championship banner.
