Tax Free = Big Savings

Over the past five years, Texans have saved more than $193 million during tax free weekend. This year, it appears the savings will be even greater.

The South Plains Mall welcomed 150,000 shoppers throughout the three day "tax holiday", which is up 1% from last year's tax-free weekend.

Comptroller Carole Keeton Strayhorn estimates Texans saved more than $46 million in state and local sales taxes this weekend.
