It's hard enough to be successful in college athletics. Even harder if you inherit a troubled program.
It's no surprise that interim head basketball coach for Texas Tech was dealing with just that last October.
Chris Walker took over as interim coach under a cloud of bad team morale and lots of distractions. What he's been able to do since then is impressive. Walker brought the team together and held them together.
Not to mention he's had more conference wins so far than his predecessor, and for the first time in this program, has a McDonald's All American recruit interested in Texas Tech.
And we all know the impact one player can make to turn things around.
Consider this:
I think Athletic Director Kirby Hocutt should remove the interim from Coach Walker's title and let him work on building a championship program.
