2 drivers, including police detective, injured in multi-car accident

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

Traffic on I-27 between 34th and 50th Street was backed up Friday after a multi-vehicle accident.

Just before noon, police say southbound traffic on the interstate slowed down for unknown reasons, creating a kind of domino-effect...

Police say a white pickup started slowing down for a car in front of it, and was rear-ended by an SUV.

A detective saw the accident and pulled up behind the two vehicles to help.

Then, police say the detective was rear-ended by another pickup when the driver didn't realize traffic was slowing down.

The detective and one other person were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
