SNYDER, TX (KCBD) -

Snyder Police and Texas Rangers are investigating an overnight homicide that happened in the 200 block of 36th St. in Snyder.

The shooting happened just after 2 a.m. Wednesday. Police say Justin Vaughn, 25, of Snyder was shot and killed inside a residence.

Although police have not confirmed all of the details of the shooting, neighbors are reporting what they heard and saw.

"Somebody had broken in to their house and had tied up the wife and one of the children. Somebody got shot. I guess it was the husband who got shot," said one neighbor.

Another neighbor says the couple who lived in that house always had people over late at night.

"There was too much partying going on over there for sure. I don't know what happened, but they really made a bunch of enemies staying up and partying all night," she said.

Nevertheless, people in Snyder are still in shock over what happened.

"Snyder is a church-going town. It's a quiet neighborhood. This is pretty shocking to hear anything like this. It's really sad to hear because up to this point, it's been a really nice neighborhood to live in, " one man said.

Other neighbors echoed shock that such an event could happen in this small, safe town.
