Spurrier to ESPN: "I still have three or four years in me."

COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) -

South Carolina head football coach Steve Spurrier is still taking aim at the Gamecocks' first SEC Championship this season, but he also told ESPN's Chris Low he's still probably got a few more years left in the tank before he hangs up the visor for good.

"I tell people that I still have three or four years in me," he said to Low. "I'll probably say the same three or four years from now."

Spurrier, now 68 years old, was tasked with kickstarting the Gamecocks to compete in the ultra competitive SEC when he started in Columbia back in 2005.

It took a few years of average seasons, but it's hard to argue that Spurrier hasn't been successful in the past three seasons.

With the Gamecocks' first SEC East title in 2010, and back-to-back 11-win seasons in 2011 and 2012, Spurrier told ESPN he expects to contend for the SEC title this season.

"We're 25-3 here at home. We've only lost three the last four years here. We've had a good run at home, but we haven't won that SEC yet. We want to win one of those. We've done a lot of firsts, as you know, but we haven't done what we came here to do," said Spurrier.

The Gamecocks begin the 2013 season in Columbia against the UNC Tar Heels in a televised Thursday night game.
