Lubbock-Cooper students place 2nd in State Tractor Meet

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

Congratulations to the 2013 Lubbock-Cooper FFA Tractor Technician Team for placing 2nd overall in State competition on Monday, March 11th. Students Jarrod Polk, Garrett Ritchie, and Keevan Prather competed for Lubbock-Cooper and individually placed 4th, 5th, and 12th, respectively. Each student was awarded an estimated $3,500 in prizes.

The team had to learn all the systems of a tractor including: Power Trains, Hydraulics, Electronics, Internal Combustion Engines and Air Conditioners. Students had to thoroughly understand five John Deere manuals and an Agricultural Mechanics textbook while demonstrating a manual tractor inspection.

Kyle Pate, Agricultural Science Instructor for the Lubbock-Cooper Schools, said that these students have made the school district proud for the diligence put into the competition.
