The package includes two brand new elementary schools and improvements to every campus in the district. LISD Board President Mark Griffin says the approval of this package is an investment in our community. "I think it is important for parents who have students but also for employers who will be looking to hire people coming out of our district these will give us the tools and give our children the tools to be better citizens and provide a more educated workplace."
According to city officials, the bond package will add more than a $158 million to the local economy through jobs created and goods and services. Early voting continues through August 20th.
