CPR Certification for Teachers

Teacher workshops at Frenship Independent School District this week included some life-saving instruction. About 200 teachers there were certified in CPR so if the need arises, each is trained to switch roles from teacher to rescuer.

"If the kids are eating lunch or snacks in the classroom, anytime you get children laughing and eating and talking, put it all together, the chances are greater you can have an airway obstruction," says Kathy Balco, Frenship school nurse.

Kathy says the CPR training is more than a benefit to Frenship schools, because these teachers may end up using their new first aid skills to save a life at home or in the community.
