Another city on the South Plains is close to banning the sale and distribution of synthetic drugs.
The Lamesa City Council voted unanimously on Tuesday, in its first of two votes to take the products off shelves.
Currently there are two stores selling synthetic drugs in Lamesa.
The city passed a similar ordinance two years ago, but the creators of the products kept revamping the chemicals to make them legal again.
Lamesa Mayor David Nix says this new ordinance includes a long list of chemicals, and is similar to the bans recently passed in Levelland and here in Lubbock.
Mayor Nix Says no one spoke against the ban at the meeting on Tuesday.
"We had full support from the community, the police, city and county. It's just another issue we gotta address," Nix said.
The city council will hold its second and final vote on April 2nd.
