The 7th-seeded Lady Raiders wiped away a late six-point second half deficit, but eventually fell to the 10th-seeded South Florida Bulls in the 1st round of the NCAA Tournament Saturday night, 71-70.
The Lady Raiders, back in the NCAA tournament after missing last year, had a balanced scoring attack that featured three players with at least 15 points, but it wasn't enough for Texas Tech.
Twenty points from Christine Hyde led Texas Tech scorers, along with 17 from Chynna Brown and 15 from Kelsi Baker.
But South Florida had plenty of balance themselves with four double-digit scorers including 20 from Inga Orekhova.
The loss ends Texas Tech's season with a record of 21-11.
South Florida advances to the 2nd round to play 2nd seeded California, 8:30 p.m. Monday night at United Spirit Arena.
