Postal workers protest plan to end Saturday delivery

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

Postal workers rallied across the country on Sunday to deliver a message to their boss.

Here in Lubbock, workers made their message loud and clear. They want to stamp out a plan to eliminate Saturday service.

The Postmaster General has proposed ending Saturday deliveries to save money.

Workers took to the streets protesting the plan.

The large crowd of postal workers and supporters say the move would be counter-productive.

Micky Morris with the Texas Association of Letter Carriers said, "We think Saturday delivery is important because it affects small businesses, all of the public, cities of any size and especially rural people in America."

The Postmaster General says cutting Saturday deliveries would save $2 billion dollars a year.
