A lot of hard core athletes believe the motto "no pain, no gain". But a lot of experts will tell you that's your ticket to a doctor's office.
Dr. Geoffery Collins, an orthopedic surgeon, says if you're motivated by spring, to spring into a new workout. Remember that trouble comes when you push too hard, too fast
"The way we run into trouble with stress fractures are patients who are sharply increasing their level of activity or beginning a new workout program," said Dr. Geoffery Collins, an orthopedic surgeon.
"Bones are alive and they'll respond to stress if they're given an opportunity to do that. If you exceed that, then they fail."
Bottom line, Dr. Collins says go slow and allow for rest days so your muscles can rest.
