LUBBOCK – April is National Child Abuse Awareness and Prevention Month. To kick it off, Covenant is hosting the Child Abuse Summit on March 29 starting at 8 a.m. The event is hosted by Covenant Children's and Knipling Education Conference Center.
Join community stakeholders and leaders in a pertinent and timely discussion about prevalence of child abuse in Lubbock County and our region to help build community awareness, and develop an action plan.

March 29, 2013 Children's Safety and Wellbeing Summit, 8am-12 noon - hosted by Covenant Children's Hospital and the College of Human Studies at Texas Tech University; Institute for Child and Family Studies, and the Department of Pediatrics, TTUHSC - Knipling Education and Conference Center. Join community stakeholders and leaders in a pertinent and timely discussion about prevalence of child abuse in Lubbock County and our region, help build community awareness, and develop an action plan! Speakers include Dr. Patti Patterson of TTUHSC, David Corwin ,MD (a psychiatrist discussing the Adverse Childhood Experiences Study), Randall Alexander, MD (a pediatrician discussing the Florida state response to child abuse), and Ben Saunders, Ph.D. (a MFT and social worker, who is a Professor and Director of the Family and Child Program at the National Crime Victims Research and Treatment Center.
April 1, 2013 Blue Ribbon Event – 9am, in front of the Women's and Children's Hospital. In recognition of children that have been impacted by abuse in our community, join us in tying blue ribbons on our entryway!
April 4, 2013 4 for 4 Event – Every day in Lubbock County an average of 4 children become victims of abuse and neglect. The Lubbock Coalition for Child Abuse Prevention is asking for 4,000 participants to wear blue on behalf of the more than 1,500 Lubbock children annually who are victims of child abuse and neglect!
