Top Tech recruit to delay announcement

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

Kimball High School shooting guard and McDonald's All-American Keith Frazier is now delaying his announcement about his commitment to Texas Tech until a new head coach is named.

This news comes one day after a source close to the situation confirmed to KCBD that the 5-star recruit had verbally committed to Texas Tech if interim coach Chris Walker was named head coach.

Sources tell KCBD that Tech is still interviewing candidates, and while Walker is in the mix, they are not ready to name him head coach yet.

Frazier was set to announce his decision at 3 p.m. but is choosing to wait until sometime after the McDonald All-American game on April 3rd, according to Reggie Rankin of ESPN.com.

"I just want to be 100 percent sure," he told Rankin. "I only want to make this decision once."

Frazier averaged 22 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists this past season.
