After a four months of hard work, a Lubbock landmark has vanished from the city's skyline. You may recall, the 76-year-old Burrus Grain Elevator was torn down to make way for the Marsha Sharp freeway. The concrete structure was quickly reduced to rubble, but it took even longer for that rubble to be hauled away.
TxDOT plans to crush and recycle the bits, and put it to use on Lubbock roadways.
