A new invention lets you keep your teeth but change the look to achieve that flashy white smile. Chicago dental technician Arvid Saunaitis was the guinea pig for his invention. His upper teeth had become stained, but his new smile is far from that. So, how'd that happen?
Saunaitis figured out how to create custom models that he can actually snap-on to the back teeth. He says it does take a while to get used to the feel of it, but now he wears the snap-on teeth all the time.
Unlike dentures, they don't replace the originals, but like dentures, they're very durable. Already, some dentists say they are eager to offer this option to patients.
"Especially in these patients with severely worn teeth, it gives the dentist another great option for their patients," says Dr. Russell Finton, dentist.
"When I saw it, I loved it. I like the lighter looking teeth, and since I'm in the profession, I want to look good," says Saunaitis.
The estimated cost will be from $2,000 to $3,000. Plus, good dental hygiene is really important with the snap-on teeth because food can get inside the device so you have to brush after every meal.
