Hair loss has long been a factor in men's self-esteem and now their self-esteem may be dealt another blow: a new study finds that hair loss in men may be linked to poor heart health.
A new report in the British journal Open, studied more than 37,000 men and removed other risk factors like age, smoking and obesity. Researchers found what they call a link between baldness and heart disease, even deciding the bigger the bald spot, the bigger the risk.
Male pattern baldness is something that affects nearly 40% of American men.
Researchers think the connection may have something to do with inflammation, but other than that, experts say this could be an important clue to help doctors find trouble before heart disease leads to complications.
