The CDC is closely watching the new strain of bird flu emerging in China.
On April 3, there were 9 cases and the very next day, there were 14. This particular strain is called the H7N9 virus. Genetic studies reveal this virus may have mutated, making it easier to spread in animals which also makes it a bigger threat to humans.
There have been a total of 5 human deaths, all of which have occurred in China.
