Released by the Longview Police Department:
On April 4, 2013 at 7:58 p.m., Police were dispatched to a shooting in the 2000 block of South High Street. When officers arrived, the victim told them he was locking up his barber shop when the suspect pulled up in a maroon Toyota or Mazda 4 door 90's model car. The suspect, a black male dressed in a ski mask, tan jacket with a hood, and blue jeans ran up to him, produced a handgun, and demanded money.
"The store owner was closing up shop, he was approached by a black male and that black male produced a handgun and demanded money," says Longview police officer Kristie Brian.
This is where the suspect in the case became agitated and impatient. the victim did nothing more than ask for a moment to collect himself, and for that , he was apparently shot.
"The shop owner was like 'well hold on just a minute' then he ended up shooting the shop owner one time. Then he raised the gun up to him again and the shop owner threw the money down, the suspect picked it up and ran away," Brian says.
The victim was transported to Good Shepherd Medical Center with non life-threatening injuries, and was released later in the evening.
