F-35 fighter leaves Lubbock for Nellis AFB

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

Almost a month after it had to make an emergency landing in Lubbock, an F-35 fighter jet is en route to it's permanent home at Nellis Air Force Base in Las Vegas.

It landed at Lubbock Preston Smith International Airport on March 11th due to a technical issue The jet was originally supposed to fly from Fort Worth to Nellis.

Over the last four weeks, Lockheed Martin technicians have been running tests before they could clear the jet for take off.

Pilots have made several attempts to fly it to Nellis but were delayed due to various technical issues but finally on Monday, the fighter jet flew out with an F-16 escort.
