Kites of all shapes and colors will fill the skies over McAlister Park as Parks and Recreation hosts the 4th Annual FMX Fly & Fling on Saturday, April 20 2013, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Professionals and amateurs alike are invited to participate in this family day dedicated to things that fly including Frisbees, hand-made kites, stunt kites, and giant kites! Participants of all ages will enjoy this fun-filled day as they fly kites, play Frisbee, make their own kites and watch one of the best kite teams in the state perform aerial acrobats set to music. The event will be located next to Legacy Play Village, and concessions will be available!
For the fourth year in a row, Lubbock is fortunate to feature a professional kite team to perform at the Fly and Fling. Troy Gunn and his team, TKO Sport Kite Team, are from Wichita Falls and specialize in stunt kite performances. Troy holds the world duration record for flying two sport kites at the same time and has competed and won both nationally and internationally.
