A drug once taken by millions of pregnant women to treat morning sickness will be available again.
The medicine called Bendectin was pulled from store shelves 30 years ago after hundreds of lawsuits blamed it for birth defects. But that safety scare turned out to be a false alarm.
Now, after years of additional study, the FDA has approved a new version of the drug called Diclegis. It has proven to be safe for pregnant women and their babies and will be available by prescription in June.
It will be the only drug specifically designed to treat morning sickness.
