The National Weather Service has recognized Idalou as a StormReady@ community.
In order to qualify as a StormReady@ city, there must be systems in place that monitor local weather conditions and have multiple ways to receive severe weather forecasts, warnings and send out alerts.
On Monday, Jody James of the National Weather Service presented Idalou Emergency Management Coordinator Adam Berry with the StormReady@ certification.
Lubbock County was designated as StormReady in 2010.
Since 1999, about 2,000 communities across the nation have achieved this recognition.
