The TTUHSC is offering a convenient chance for the whole family to get annual health screenings and take care of some shopping in the same outing.
Tech is sponsoring its annual community health fair at the South Plains Mall this Saturday, April 13th from 10-5. But beyond the usual checks for blood pressure, blood sugar, BMI, cholesterol and more, medical students and physicians will be screen for cancer at its earliest stage.
"There's going to be skin cancer screenings, breast cancer screenings and even oral cancer screenings," said Eric Huynh, a first year medical student at TTUHSC.
"Oral cavity cancer isn't only reserved for people who smoke, but lately incidents have been more focused on people who have never smoked in their lives and it is happening earlier in age," said Dr. Tam Nguyen.
Also, if you bring a list of your medications and any supplements you might be taking, the doctors can give you advice on taking those drugs properly.
And the Texas Medical Association will be giving away helmets to the first 100 children as part of the Hard Hats for Little Heads Program, to protect kids on wheels.
