The future of the South Plains Regional Narcotic Task Force will be decided at a meeting next Monday.
On Thursday District 83 State Representative Delwin Jones called on all 18 member counties to meet in Levelland. The task force needs to designate a new leader after the Lubbock Police Department decided it no longer wanted that role. Regardless of who is in charge, Jones believes Lubbock will continue to be involved with the task force. "Any drugs in these counties ends up going through lubbock county so i think its important we hold it together," said Jones.
The new lead agency will be in charge of bookkeeping, budgeting and distributing approved grants.
