After two hours behind closed doors in executive session,
Lubbock City Council Members voted to move forward in hiring outside
legal counsel as they discussed at last week's meeting. Tuesday evening, the city council selected attorney Tom Riney of Amarillo, who specializes in employment law.
Over the next seven days, Riney and the attorney of City Manager, Lee Ann Dumbauld will be discussing the conflict between Dumbauld and District One Councilman, Victor Hernandez, along with Dumbauld's future with the City of Lubbock.
Riney will be paid out of the City of Lubbock's General Fund, which means the taxpayers will be footing the bill for this expense.
Mayor Glen Robertson believes the council will not vote again on the issue until May 1st. He says they are sitting back to hear both sides and weigh all of their options. According to Robertson, members of city council were advised not to speak publicly about the allegations until the issues are resolved.
